Some Residential Treatment Centers work from a behavior modification model ,but more and more are turning to the Positive Peer Culture or community based model, where students take responibility for their own failures and hold one another accountable to their actions. And other RTCs, especially those that are for troubled girls only, are more relationally oriented. Some programs are usually large (80 plus and as many as 250 at times) and work on a levels system in their treatment approach. In order to manage student behavior some treatment programs put systems of rewards and punishments in place. Specialty programs are usually smaller (less than 50 and as few as 10 or 12).
